Update 3 Now Available, Still Some Issues that Need Resolved

Update 3 came out on all platforms on June 20th, 2024 and addressed most of the remaining major issues with the Classic Collection. Notably the graphical errors on maps like Hoth and Utapau are seemingly resolved, AI can use heroes again, and the Reward Weapon/Bonus bug introduced with Update 2 is now fixed. Below are the full patch notes for Update 3.
Despite these fixes there are still a few major issues that Aspyr will hopefully resolve before too long.
- Multiplayer Issues
- Hit registration is still an issue. It has gotten slightly better since launch, but the game is mishandling packets so it causes a desync between player actions and what the server is reading. It is worse in Aspyr's official servers but it is still present everywhere. This can manifest as issues doing things like throwing detpacks and shots not registering on enemy players but you still see them impact and see the knockback effects.
- The region lock is still active, this needs to be removed especially with how small the playerbase is now for the Collection.
- Sorting still does not work correctly in the server browser.
- General Gameplay Issues
- Controls are still not working correctly on consoles, specifically aim acceleration, sensitivity, aim assist, and deadzones. The result is that you either move your reticule too fast and lack precision or move too slow and can't navigate successfully.
- A new bug introduced with Update 3 has caused all music in matches, including end of round Victory/Defeat music to not play.
If these remaining issues are resolved then the Classic Collection will be the superior way to play the original Star Wars: Battlefront games. With these problems still existing it is hard to recommend anyone play the Classic Collection.
