Posted on Jun 28th 2024 01:04:58 in PlayStation 2, Guides

This post will walk you through the installation process for bk2modder's Unofficial Update DLC Mod for the PlayStation 2 version of Star Wars: Battlefront II. The mod ports the Xbox DLC content, Bespin Cloud City, Rhen Var Harbor, Rhen Var Citadel, and Yavin IV Arena along with hero assault on every map. Also included is Clone Wars for Hoth and Endor and Galactic Civil War for Geonosis. The mod also expands Galactic Conquest to add the new maps.

The DLC mod is pre-patched for online play, so if you want to play online you won't need any other modifications.

Required Materials:

  1. A working PlayStation 2 with a method to launch OpenPS2Loader like FreeMCBoot, or the newest version of the PCSX2 emulator.
  2. A copy of the US release of Star Wars: Battlefront II in .iso format.
  3. The mod files which you can find here.
  4. A program to build an .iso from a folder like ImgBurn.
  5. A program to extract .iso files, such as WinRAR or 7-Zip.

Step 1:

Use WinRAR or 7-Zip to extract the original .iso of Star Wars: Battlefront II to a contained folder.

Step 2:

Open the mod files from the download linked above and drag the DATA folder into the root of the extracted .iso folder. When it prompts, click Replace.

Replace the SWBFNT2.ELF file in the .iso folder with the one in the mod download as well.

Step 3:

Open ImgBurn and click "Create image file from files/folders".

(0) Click the "Options" tab and make sure the settings for "Data Type", "File System", and "UDF Revision" match the image.

(1) Click the "Browse for a folder" button near the large Source box and select the folder of your recently modified .iso

(2) Click the "Browse for a folder" button near the small Destination box and choose a location to save the new .iso, name it whatever you want.

(3) Click the large "Build" button.

On the screen that pops up after, click Yes. If you do not the .iso will not work.

When it completes your freshly modded .iso is ready for play.

You can play this on a real PlayStation 2 using OpenPS2Loader, the most common way to do this is to get a memory card with FreeMCBoot installed which you can do so from eBay or Amazon. You can also play this on the newest version of the PlayStation 2 emulator PCSX2.
