Conquest is a Necessity

Conquest, a game mode invented by DICE for Battlefield 1942 where a predetermined number of control points (known in Battlefield as Flags and in Battlefront as Command Posts) exist on a map to be captured and fought over by both teams. If a team controls the majority of the command posts the enemy team will "bleed" reinforcement tickets, tickets are also lost when spawning in. As the Battlefront series was directly inspired by Battlefield 1942, Pandemic included Conquest as the only mode in Star Wars: Battlefront (2004) and the primary mode in Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005). When it was learned at E3 2013 that DICE would be reviving the Star Wars Battlefront series everyone expected that as the spiritual creators of Battlefront and the actual creators of Battlefield, Conquest would naturally be a main mode in the game. The community was universally disappointed when we learned that Star Wars Battlefront (2015) would not include Conquest but rather an expy called Supremacy. In reality Supremacy only bore a passing resemblance to Conquest, it played more like War/Momentum from Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. There were no tickets, the control points were all in a line, and only one control point could be taken at a time. While it was fun, it wasn't Conquest. 

Rumor has it that there will be an actual Conquest mode (if not Conquest in name due to DICE liking to "Star Wars-ize" game mode names) in Star Wars Battlefront II (2017). I hope that these rumors are true, even if it is only the Domination variant (10v10, 3-5 flags, no or limited vehicles) of Conquest present in Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1. Conquest is essential to the identity of Star Wars Battlefront. It is a dynamic mode that, assuming the maps are designed well, almost never plays out the exact same way and allows for emergent gameplay. If Conquest is in the game, chances are it would be the only mode that I play. I hope that DICE has learned from the feedback given of the 2015 that Conquest isn't necessarily a "Battlefield mode" and even if it was, Star Wars Battlefront being a little bit more like Battlefield isn't a bad thing, the series only exists because of Battlefield in the first place.
